Economy of Malta

the major income of Malta come from its limestone, the large amount of tourists. In 1999, over one million tourists visited the island. The good geographical location and the productive work cause also a lot of income. Malta produces only about 20% of its food needs and has limited freshwater supplies so they have to import those which costs a lot of money. The economy is dependent on foreign trade, tourism and manufacturing especially electronics and textiles.
